Howard Hendricks comments in Teaching to Change Lives that in interpersonal communication 5% is verbal and 95% nonverbal. I find those numbers rather arbitrary, but I believe he has a point. Right off hand, I thought of factors that affect communication:
- posture
- tilt of head
- facial expression
- eye contact
- standing/sitting
- position in room
- hand movements
- clothes
- personal hygiene
- nonverbal actions (e.g. display of affections)
