This article, dating back to 2004, still speaks today to a very pertinent subject matter–on singlehood:

A 62-year-old widow. Two 20-something bachelors. A 40-something never-married woman. A 27-year-old spokesperson for sexual purity. No, this isn’t the lineup for a new ill-fated dating reality show. It’s a list of some of the people I’ve met in the past two weeks. In all of these encounters, I’ve been amazed at how different our lives are and yet how well our shared experiences and perspectives as single people helped bridge those gaps.
